Jake Windham was born and raised in Acworth, Georgia. He started working in hospitality at the age of 16 and quickly learned to love customer service (his first job was at a movie theater!). He moved to Atlanta to pursue an engineering degree at Georgia Tech, but quickly realized his true passion was in studying people and history. This led to him obtaining a bachelor’s in history, Technology, and Society. There are few subjects outside of wine that utilize all three fields so thoroughly! He began working in restaurants while attending college, and he caught the wine bug while working as a server at the Basque restaurant, Cooks and Soldiers. This led to him focusing his senior research paper on the concept of terroir!
Following graduation, Jake continued to work at Cooks and Soldiers for a year, learning more about wine and hospitality in the process. He decided he wanted to devote himself to the wine world and knew that there was no better place in the city to learn than Perrine’s. He joined the Perrine’s Team in September 2022. He loves providing quality customer service, while tasting and learning about all kinds of wine. He claims he has absorbed some knowledge from just being around the bottles every day! His knowledge has expanded rapidly, and he is registered to take his Certified Sommelier exam through the Court of Master Sommeliers this upcoming summer.
Outside of work, you can find Jake trying new wine (of course), hunting down new restaurants, and hanging out with his two cats, Percy and Ginny.
