ABOUT THIS WINE

The Sauvignon Blanc vines are an average age of 25 years old and are at an elevation of 1,500 feet. The soil is a mix of Kimmerigian Limestone, clay, and gravel which gives the wine its striking finish. No herbicides are used and the grapes were harvested by machine in early October. Once the grapes were sorted the fermentation took 15 days at a maximum temperature of 64° F. The wine was then aged on lees for 5-8 months giving it a more textured feeling on the palate. The entire aging process took place in stainless steel tanks.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Located in the heart of Chavignol, Domaine Serge Laporte has been in this family for seven generations, now in the more than capable hands of Serge’s son, Guillaume Laporte, who took over as winemaker some ten years ago. The estate comprises of 11 hectares of Sauvignon and 2 hectares of Pinot Noir. Their plots of vines of various ages are spread over a wide variety of terroirs and exhibitions. They pay the greatest attention to their terroirs, in fact they are the ones that give all the complexity to our wines. This is why, in an eco-environmental approach, they work the soils and limit chemical inputs in all of their vines.
