The 1982 Château Ausone was harvested by hand from the estate’s vineyards, which are situated on the clay-limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion. The wine is made predominantly from Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with each varietal being fermented separately before blending. The wine underwent a traditional fermentation process, followed by aging in new French oak barrels for an extended period of 18 months. This lengthy maturation, along with the exceptional quality of the fruit in this vintage, has allowed the wine to evolve gracefully into the masterpiece it is today.
