ABOUT THE WINE

The 1983 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a historic expression of Biondi-Santi’s long-lived style. Made from the estate’s proprietary BBS11 clone of Sangiovese Grosso, it draws on vines more than 25 years old and was aged for three years in Slavonian oak before extended bottle refinement in La Storica, the estate’s historic cellar for Riserva vintages. The mature wine is noted for purity and clarity of fruit, polished tannins and a still-vibrant line of acidity. The estate records that the wine was topped up and its cork changed in 2000 and again in 2022.

Grape: Sangiovese Grosso (BBS11 clone)   Alcohol: 13% ABV

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Biondi-Santi helped establish Brunello di Montalcino as a benchmark for age-worthy Sangiovese. At Tenuta Greppo, the estate preserves a traditional approach centered on its own selected clone, estate vineyards, careful cellar work and maturation in large Slavonian oak casks.
