2011 Château Haut-Brion Premier Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France

The 2011 Château Haut-Brion is an exceptional wine, showcasing the estate’s hallmark balance of power and elegance. The nose is complex, with ripe dark fruit aromas of blackcurrant and plum, intertwined with subtle notes of graphite, tobacco, and a touch of leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a refined texture, the tannins finely integrated, offering a sense of depth and poise. The fruit character is complemented by hints of spice, cedar, and earthy minerality, contributing to a sophisticated and layered profile. The finish is long and persistent, marked by refined oak nuances and a touch of mocha, with a lingering minerality that speaks to the terroir of Pessac-Léognan. A wine that is drinking beautifully now, but has the structure to age gracefully for years to come.

ABOUT THIS WINE

The 2011 vintage of Château Haut-Brion was crafted from a blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Cabernet Franc, with each varietal being hand-harvested and meticulously sorted. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel vats, with a maceration period to extract color and flavor. The wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new, allowing for the integration of the oak and the development of its complexity. The 2011 vintage has shown excellent maturity, and its harmonious balance of fruit, acidity, and tannin indicates a long aging potential.
