2015 Cerbaia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Tuscany, Italy
Cerbaia's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Cerbaia is only made in the best years and represents a special selection of fruit from the estate's oldest vines planted in 1978. This is a sultry, velvety and dark expression with plum, rich cherry and blackberry preserves. Cured tobacco, campfire ash and mahogany also appear.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Medium-ruby color. Utterly aristocratic aromas bloom from the glass: fresh and dried black cherry, black plum, wet stone, sottobosco, cocoa, nutmeg, toffee, and a whiff of prosciutto. Full-bodied and expansive on the palate, the wine unfurls a mainsail of dried black-fruit flavors like mulberry and black cherry, accented by a pleasantly bitter quinine note and framed by firm, satisfyingly persistent tannins. This Brunello manages to be poised and dramatic at the same time, inviting meditation. Drink now–2030.
Brunello di Montalcino by law must be aged a minimum of four years, including two years in barrel before realease and once released, typically needs more time in bottle for its drinking potential to be fully reached.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Cerbaia is a boutique winery dedicated to producing wines from some of the finest vineyards in Montalcino. Its Brunello is the true expression of a unique and distinctive place. The Cerbaia property has belonged to the Pellegrini family since the 1950s, with the family beginning to make wine in the 1970’s. Located on the highly regarded Montosoli Hill, one of the most famous cru of the area, Cerbaia is comprised of a total of 12 hectares of land, 4.5 of which under the Brunello appellation today. These are beautiful, mature vines, located on a rolling northeast-facing hillside, which produces a selected and limited quantity of the highest quality grapes. From the estate vineyards emerge wines which truly represent Montalcino’s authentic terroir.

Elena also continues to carry on her father Fabio’s conviction to make wine with minimal intervention, committing to sustainable practices in her vineyards and products. Today, the great enologist G.Gorelli consults Elena to produce wines that are the incredibly unique combination of a highly vocated land, a traditional winemaking philosophy and the energy of a young winemake
