ABOUT THE WINE

Produced only in exceptional vintages, the Riserva is a pinnacle expression of the estate's organically farmed vineyards in the cooler, northern quadrant of Montalcino. The 2015 vintage—warm, dry, and perfectly balanced—allowed for optimal ripening of Sangiovese Grosso, harvested by hand and sorted rigorously for quality. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in truncated cone-shaped oak vats, followed by a slow, deliberate aging of at least 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, and extended bottle refinement before release.

The result is a Brunello that marries richness with restraint: intense aromas of red cherry, incense, leather, and Mediterranean herbs give way to a structured, persistent palate. With its finely grained tannins and vertical structure, this Riserva has significant cellaring potential, yet is already showing layers of complexity and textural finesse. Ideal with aged pecorino, bistecca alla fiorentina, or truffle-infused dishes.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini is a trailblazer in Montalcino and a celebrated figure in Italian wine. Inheriting some of the oldest family vineyards in the region, she founded her estate in 1998 with a bold vision: to establish the first all-female winery in Italy. The estate includes Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda, both farmed organically and with a deep commitment to environmental sustainability and cultural heritage.
