2016 Fanti Brunello Di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Bright red with a medium intensity, the perfume is mature and complex. Juicy notes of cherry and licorice at the beginning develop well with hints of tobacco, violets, balsamic and an underlying herbal quality. Tannins are dense but with a medium to long finish, remains fresh.
The Fanti Estate is located in the very heart of Tuscany, in the valley of Castelnuovo dell’Abate which lies in the south of Montalcino. The total extension of the family properties adds up to 300 hectares which surround the new and modern cellar that is partly buried into the hill to reduce the visual impact and safeguard the amazing natural scenario dominated by the more-then-thousand years old Sant’Antimo Abbey. The estate is currently divided into: 50 hectares of vineyard, 100 hectares of olive grove, 100 hectares of crops and 50 hectares of woodland. The soil, relatively sandy and poor in organic substances, and the unique micro-climate make this area definitely suitable for growing vines and olive trees.
