2015 Weszeli Riesling "Seeberg", Kamptal, Austria

A captivating expression of Kamptal terroir, the 2015 Weszeli Riesling "Seeberg" is a wine of poised energy and mineral tension. It opens with aromas of lime zest, white peach, and crushed stone, underscored by a faint smokiness. On the palate, it balances ripeness with precision—stone fruit and citrus interplay with saline minerality and a racy line of acidity. The texture is sleek and polished, finishing with an elegant persistence that hints at wet slate and herbal nuance.

ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from the steep, south-facing Seeberg vineyard in the Kamptal, this single-site Riesling showcases the crystalline character of primary rock soils composed of mica schist. 2015 was a warm vintage, and the wine reflects this with generous ripeness, yet it remains lifted and focused due to the vineyard’s high elevation and diurnal shifts. Hand-harvested grapes were gently pressed and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel to preserve purity and terroir expression. Aged on fine lees for added depth, the wine reveals the clarity and structure typical of Weszeli’s style. The Seeberg’s cooler microclimate adds definition to the wine’s fruit, while its minerality makes it a natural companion to dishes like grilled trout, citrus-marinated poultry, or Vietnamese-style salads.
