ABOUT THE WINE
The "Lazzarito" is sourced from a single cru vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba—an area known for producing some of Barolo’s most structured and long-lived wines. The 2019 vintage is marked by excellent balance and purity, benefitting from a long, steady growing season. Nebbiolo grapes are hand-harvested and vinified using traditional methods, including a long maceration on the skins (up to 30 days) and aging for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks. The result is a wine of depth and dimension, with layers of dark plum, licorice, tobacco, and iron. Its firm tannins and mineral tension reflect the calcareous-clay soils of the site. This is a cellar-worthy Barolo that pairs beautifully with rich dishes like braised short ribs, truffle risotto, or aged cheeses.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Vietti is one of the most esteemed names in Barolo, with roots tracing back to the 19th century and a modern legacy shaped by Alfredo Currado—considered one of the pioneers of single-vineyard Barolo bottlings. Today, the estate is run by Luca Currado and his team, who uphold a philosophy that marries tradition with meticulous vineyard work and innovative precision. Farming is sustainably practiced across their holdings, many of which are in top Barolo crus. Vietti’s wines are lauded for their clarity of terroir, aging potential, and consistent excellence across vintages. The Lazzarito bottling stands as a benchmark for Serralunga Barolo—structured, profound, and resolutely classic.
