ABOUT THE WINE
The 2017 Campo Alle Comete Bolgheri Superiore is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot sourced from the estate’s prime vineyard plots in Bolgheri, a coastal region known for its sun-soaked days and cooling Tyrrhenian breezes. A warm vintage with early ripening conditions brought concentration and plush fruit, balanced by careful vineyard management to preserve freshness.
The wine opens with aromas of cassis, wild berries, bay leaf, tobacco, and crushed stone. On the palate, it shows depth and poise—ripe dark fruit layered with cocoa, cedar, and a hint of balsamic character. The texture is silky but structured, thanks to 18 months of aging in French oak barrels (30% new), followed by bottle refinement. Organically farmed and hand-harvested, the wine reflects both terroir and thoughtful winemaking.
Best enjoyed with grilled lamb, wild boar ragù, or aged pecorino, it’s a wine that rewards decanting now or cellaring for 5–10 more years.
