2017 Domaine de Montcy Cheverny Rouge, Loire Valley, France
Very fruity and aromatic on the nose. A first intense nose of cherry and red fruits, after which appear some spicy notes. On the palette it has a beautiful softness and velvety tannins. A marvelous accompaniment to grilled duck or stewed meats.
ABOUT THIS WINE
The grapes were harvested in October and fermented in stainless steel for 7 days at <20°C. Sole use of indigenus yeast. Wine was then further aged in stainless steel, with 4 months minimum age on fines lees.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Domaine de Montcy is an estate, in the Loire Valley, founded by Laura Semeria and tended by Vincent Hayer in 2007. With an aim to produce wines at the highest level the Cheverny appellation has to offer, an old estate with 15-80 year old vines was purchased. It is also one of the few producers of the tiny appellation of Cour-Cheverny. In 2021 Vincent purchased the estate from Laura and her husband, and now leads the future of Domaine de Montcy.
