2017 Giovanni Rosso Barolo Serralunga d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy

The nose is intense and complex with charming scents of cherry liqueur, violet, star anise, dried leaves and blueberries. On the palate it is well-structured and well-balanced, with smooth tannins and a very long finish.

The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand from the Calcereous soild from various vineyard plots in Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto. After fermentation in cement vats, the wine is aged 36 months in large French oak barrels, and another 6 months in bottle.

Giovanni Rosso is a a small, family-owned producer in the heart of the Barolo commune of Serralunga d’Alba. Since the 1890s the Rosso family has farmed vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, making only red wines, with a great passion for Barolo and its great grape, Nebbiolo. Giovanni Rosso has around a dozen different plots within Serralunga d'Alba. These vineyard plots include some of the most historically important areas such as La Serra, Broglio, Damiano and Vigna Rionda as well as Cerretta and Sorano.
