Crafted from 100% Aglianico grown in the high-elevation vineyards of Montemarano and Mirabella Eclano, Stilèma is Mastroberardino’s tribute to the traditional style of Taurasi—focusing on finesse over opulence. The 2017 vintage, marked by a warm, dry season, resulted in low yields and concentrated fruit, balanced by the natural freshness of these cool, volcanic sites.

Fermented in stainless steel with extended skin contact, the wine was aged for 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks and neutral French barrels, then bottled unfiltered and aged further before release. The result is a Taurasi of depth and nuance, showing black cherry, leather, dried herbs, and hints of smoke and iron.

Mastroberardino is a cornerstone of Southern Italian wine, based in Irpinia and renowned for its pioneering work in preserving native Campanian varieties such as Aglianico, Fiano, and Greco. With a legacy dating back over 10 generations, the estate has long championed Taurasi as one of Italy’s great age-worthy reds. The Stilèma project, led by Piero Mastroberardino, is a return to the estate’s roots—favoring traditional winemaking, long aging, and transparency of terroir. The Taurasi Riserva stands at the heart of that vision: austere, noble, and unmistakably Irpinian.
