2017 Robert Sinskey “Four Vineyards” Pinot Noir, Los Carneros, California, USA

Graceful, savory, and quietly complex, the 2017 Four Vineyards Pinot Noir is a quintessential expression of cool-climate Carneros—delivering nuance, energy, and balance. Aromas of wild strawberry, dried cherry, rose petal, and forest floor lead into a supple, medium-bodied palate with notes of black tea, mushroom, and subtle spice. Silky tannins and vibrant acidity carry through to a long, earthy, mineral-etched finish.

ABOUT THIS WINE

The Four Vineyards bottling is a blend of fruit from Robert Sinskey’s certified organic and biodynamic estate vineyards in the Los Carneros AVA: RSV Estate, Three Amigos, Scintilla Sonoma, and Vandal Vineyard. These sites, cooled by marine breezes from San Pablo Bay and rooted in well-drained loam and clay soils, produce Pinot Noir with delicacy, structure, and aromatic detail.

The 2017 vintage saw a mild growing season punctuated by early September heat spikes, followed by cooler harvest conditions. Grapes were hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve acidity, then sorted and fermented with native yeasts in small open-top fermenters. The wine spent roughly 18 months in French oak barrels (25% new) before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The resulting wine is elegant and expressive, emphasizing balance over boldness. With its red fruit core, herbal lift, and umami complexity, the 2017 Four Vineyards is both accessible and cellar-worthy. It’s a Pinot Noir that captures a sense of place—cool-climate, wind-swept Carneros—with finesse and authenticity.
