ABOUT THE WINE

Crafted entirely from Sangiovese Grosso, this Brunello is sourced from estate vineyards on the southern slopes of Montalcino, where well-drained galestro and clay soils, combined with optimal sun exposure, promote concentration and balance. The 2020 vintage benefited from a warm, stable growing season with well-timed rains, producing wines with excellent aromatic clarity, freshness, and aging potential.

Fermentation occurred in a mix of stainless steel and hybrid French oak and stainless-steel tanks (Banfi’s proprietary “Horizon” system), followed by aging in a combination of French oak barriques and Slavonian oak casks for a minimum of two years. The result is a Brunello that balances tradition and modernity—combining structure, typicity, and elegance. It’s an ideal companion to aged Pecorino, bistecca alla Fiorentina, or truffled mushroom pasta.

Banfi is a certified sustainable winery, practicing low-impact viticulture with an emphasis on biodiversity, soil health, and precision agriculture. While not fully certified organic or biodynamic, the estate follows many environmentally responsible practices and was the first winery in the world to receive both ISO 14001 (environmental management) and SA8000 (social accountability) certifications.
