ABOUT THE WINE
The 2018 vintage of “Gargantua” is a compelling expression of Syrah from carefully selected vineyard parcels across Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Columbia Gorge—regions where cool nights and long growing seasons yield Syrah of rare finesse and complexity. This wine is fermented with native yeasts and whole clusters, then aged in large-format neutral oak to emphasize purity and savory detail over new oak influence. It reflects a Northern Rhône sensibility, emphasizing tension, spice, and mineral depth over ripeness. Aromatically, it weaves in wild herbs, lavender, tar, and smoked bacon. On the palate, it balances black fruit intensity with saline structure and a lifted, almost alpine freshness. Decanting reveals further nuance. Ideal with chargrilled lamb, duck confit, or mushroom-laced dishes that echo its earthiness.
