Expressive and complex nose with scents of maquis, licorice and blackcurrant, beautifully balanced structure in the mouth, silky with a
nice tannic structure
ABOUT THIS WINE
A blend of two indigenous grapes to Corsica, Sciaccarellu and Niellucci (aka Sangiovese), with Syrah. Sciaccarellu is highly perfumed and has a red-fruit strawberry/raspberry taste but with a crisp acidity. These three very powerful grapes make a superb and unique wine when combined with the unique volcanic soil of Corsica. The grapes are destemmed before pressing to aid in a clean finish. It is unfined, and aged for 12 months in concrete tanks.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Located on the town of Aghione, on the Costa Serena, the Vetriccie estate bought by the Barcelo family in 1966, expresses all of the attributes of a premium Corsican wine. It now spreads over 120ha in the heart of the appellation AOP Vin de Corse. The vineyards are located between sea and mountain. The harmonious blend of continental and native varietals on this specific terroir give elegant and flavourful wines with strong potential. Vetriccie, the Corsican wicker that grows near our vineyards is the symbol of their unspoiled nature. Daniel Barcelo, the current owner, is firmly commited to a viticulture that respects Corsican nature.
