ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from hillside vineyards in La Morra and surrounding communes of the Barolo appellation, this wine reflects calcareous-clay soils that lend aromatic lift and structural elegance. The 2021 vintage in Piedmont is noted for its balance, combining excellent phenolic ripeness with freshness and precision—ideal conditions for Nebbiolo.
Fermentation typically involves shorter macerations than traditional methods, preserving purity of fruit and aromatic clarity. The wine is aged in French oak barriques (a combination of new and used), a hallmark of Elio Altare’s modernist approach, which refines tannins while adding subtle layers of spice and texture.
Expect flavors of red currant, wild strawberry, dried rose, orange peel, and hints of tobacco and balsamic. Though approachable with decanting, this Barolo has the structure and depth to evolve beautifully for 15–20 years.
