ABOUT THE WINE
The 2018 Rubicon is Inglenook’s flagship wine, composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with small proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot—all estate-grown on organically farmed vineyards in the heart of Rutherford. The vintage benefited from a long, temperate growing season with no extreme weather events, allowing for extended hang time and optimal phenolic development. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (75% new), the wine reveals layers of black cherry, tobacco leaf, iron-rich earth, and hints of bay laurel, balancing richness with refinement. The fruit is sourced primarily from the historic Cohn and Chateau parcels, where deep, well-drained alluvial soils contribute to the wine’s depth and precision. Crafted under the direction of Philippe Bascaules, Rubicon undergoes native fermentation and gentle handling to preserve vineyard character. It pairs beautifully with rosemary-crusted lamb, aged ribeye, or wild mushroom ragout.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Inglenook is one of Napa Valley’s most storied estates, originally founded in 1879 by Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum. Acquired and revitalized by filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola in the 1970s, the estate has since been fully restored to its historic identity and grandeur. Committed to producing wines of integrity and longevity, Inglenook farms its entire estate organically and emphasizes biodiversity and traditional practices. Under the stewardship of Philippe Bascaules (also Managing Director at Château Margaux), the winery embraces a philosophy of minimal intervention, terroir expression, and classical balance. Rubicon stands as a modern icon—a wine that honors its past while exemplifying Napa Valley’s capacity for elegance and age-worthiness.
