2018 Jaimee Motley Wines Cabernet Sauvignon "Peter Martin Ray Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains, California, USA

The nose ranges from fresh brambleberry, strawberry, coriander, and violets. The palate has an elegant structure and silkiness that bounces across your mouth with notes of high-tone blueberry with graphite, petrichor, and briny olive.

A vibrant expression of mountain Cabernet. Upon entry, polished tannins take hold and are framed with incredible acidity. This wine is drinking beautifully right now, however it will definitely go the distance in regards to aging. 25% whole cluster fermentation, basket pressed, and aged in new Stockinger and neutral 500 liter barrels for 21 months. The vines are own-rooted and planted in 1971, Massa has been farmed organically since 1990

Founder and winemaker Jamiee Motley was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, within the walls of her family's restaurant. Having initially gone off to school for painting, she found herself back in the restaurant scene at Locanda and RN74 in California where she attributes her high knowledge and love of wine started. It was during her time there that her passion was ignited.

In 2015, she accepted the assistant winemaker position at Wind Gap/Pax Wine Cellars where the owners created a space at the winery for small brands like hers to blossom. She began importing Stockinger barrels from Austria in 2016. Stockinger is family owned and operated, and one of the great artisanal coopers of Europe.
