ABOUT THIS WINE
Sourced from five different vineyards high in the Andes foothills of the Uco Valley, this 100% Malbec is exceptional. The grapes see 10 months of aging in barrels (70% French Oak) which offers a complex and refined expression with good aromatic power reminiscent of black fruits, mountain herbs and candied berries.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
LANDES ("Along the Andes") is a project where each label is driven by a concept that represents absolute freedom, a "Laissez Faire" winemaking philosophy that extends across a vast territory without borders. A range of high altitude vineyards, of those unique and charming sites that inspire us to capture their essence. Alandes represents the intention to create wines from grapes sourced from several spots along the Andes Mountains. The breathtaking beauty of this mountain range connects us to the land and keeps us humble, allowing us to relive the feelings of a new beginning in each place, through each wine.
Karim Mussi is a winemaker and entrepreneur who has steadily built his name as one of the top winemakers of the Uco Valley and today making wines all over Argentina. Having founded his own wineries Altocedro in La Consulta in 1999 and Alandes in 2012, today he also has his own wine project in Salta, Abras, and is a consultant for various other brands and wineries around Argentina.
In particular, Karim has been a longstanding champion of the La Consulta wine region and also of one of its most-planted varieties, Tempranillo. Another of Karim’s calling cards is complex red blends, whether that be blends of regions or varieties, or both.
