2019 Château de Béru Chablis "Terroir de Béru", Burgundy, France

A strikingly pure expression of Chablis, the 2019 "Terroir de Béru" captures the tension and minerality of its limestone-rich soils with precision. Aromas of crushed oyster shell, lemon zest, and green apple lead into a palate that is both vibrant and texturally refined. Bracing acidity frames its core of citrus and saline notes, while a chalky, mineral-driven finish lingers with clarity and poise.

ABOUT THE WINE

Sourced from the historic Béru estate—where Chardonnay has been grown since the 12th century—this wine hails from the monopole vineyard surrounding the Château itself. The "Terroir de Béru" cuvée is an ode to Kimmeridgian limestone, delivering a high-definition snapshot of place through organically and biodynamically farmed fruit. Hand-harvested grapes are vinified with native yeasts and aged on fine lees in stainless steel for over a year, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving its crystalline freshness. Expect vivid citrus, crushed stone, and sea breeze aromatics, complemented by a linear structure and mouthwatering acidity. Ideal pairings include oysters, poached white fish, or goat cheese.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Château de Béru is a revitalized medieval estate in Chablis led by Athénaïs de Béru, who took over the family property in the early 2000s. After years of neglect, she transformed the domaine by committing fully to biodynamic viticulture and natural winemaking. With deep respect for the land and heritage, Béru has become a standout in Chablis for its uncompromising approach—eschewing chemicals in the vineyard and additives in the cellar. The wines are known for their energy, transparency, and the bold redefinition of what Chablis can be when tradition meets innovation.
