ABOUT THE WINE

Sourced from select vineyard sites within Stellenbosch, South Africa’s most prestigious region for Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Stellekaya is a varietal wine that emphasizes structure, varietal purity, and age-worthiness. The grapes were hand-harvested and underwent traditional vinification with extended maceration to extract deep color and phenolic complexity.

Fermentation was conducted in stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation in French oak barrels (30% new) for 18 months, enhancing the wine’s texture and aromatic development without overwhelming its fruit core. The result is a Cabernet that balances power with polish, showing ripe black fruit layered with savory nuances of dried herbs, pencil shavings, and crushed stone.

The wine is drinking beautifully now but has the structure to evolve over the next 8–12 years. Pair it with herb-crusted lamb, grilled ribeye, or hard aged cheeses like Comté or Manchego.
