ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from the legendary Marchiori Vineyard in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, the 2019 vintage reflects the pedigree of this old-vine site—planted in the early 1990s on deep alluvial soils rich in gravel and clay. Situated at 3,200 feet above sea level, the site benefits from long, sunny days and cool nights that preserve freshness and complexity. The wine undergoes fermentation with native yeasts and ages for 18 months in French oak barrels (around 65% new), gaining depth and finesse. On the nose, it reveals layers of cassis, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings, and wild herbs. The palate is intense and structured, showing a core of black fruit, cocoa, and flinty minerality, balanced by vibrant acidity and tightly knit tannins. This is a wine built for decanting or cellaring, and it pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, aged cheeses, or roasted game.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Viña Cobos is the vision of Paul Hobbs, a renowned international winemaker who brought a site-specific, terroir-driven philosophy to Mendoza’s wine scene. Since launching the project in 1999, Viña Cobos has consistently produced some of Argentina’s most acclaimed wines, with a portfolio anchored in single-vineyard bottlings. The Marchiori Vineyard holds special significance, as it was the site of Hobbs’ first Argentine Malbec, and remains central to the winery’s identity. Farming is low-intervention and sustainable, with a strong emphasis on handwork and canopy management to achieve optimal ripeness and expression. Through meticulous vinification and deep respect for place, Viña Cobos has become a reference point for elegance and complexity in South American Cabernet Sauvignon.
