2020 Alsina & Sardà "Cromatic", Penedès, Spain

Greenish coloring with yellow reflections. Aromas of white fruit and flowers intense and persistent. Balanced in the mouth, with a lengthy and fragrant aftertaste.

This blend of 50/50 Xarel-lo and Chardonnay is most commonly seen in Cava from this region. This still expression comes from organic vines that were planted 25-35 years ago. The wine is made with the object to extract the maximum of aromatic compounds to yield a fresh and zesty nose and palate.

In 1862 Eloi Alsina’s ancestors started growing grapes in the hills west of Barcelona, selling the wine they made to negociants. It wasn’t until 1982 that they started to estate bottle their wine and cava. Year by year they perfected their techniques in the vineyards and cellar, eventually transitioning to organic production. Today the family owns more than 85% of the vineyards they farm.
