ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2020 vintage of Altesino’s Brunello di Montalcino is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, sourced from estate vineyards situated on Montalcino’s northern slopes, where higher elevation and cooler temperatures contribute to the wine’s precision and aromatic lift. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel before aging for over two years in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by extended bottle aging to refine its structure and balance.
On the nose, it opens with aromas of red currant, dried herbs, anise, and cedar, while the palate is both vibrant and composed, offering layers of red plum, orange zest, and leather. The tannins are ripe yet assertive, giving this wine a classic backbone that promises excellent aging potential. This Brunello is a harmonious blend of power and grace—an expression of traditional winemaking married with attentive vineyard management.
Altesino employs sustainable farming practices across its holdings, including minimal intervention in the vineyard and organic approaches to soil health and biodiversity. Pair it with traditional Tuscan fare—wild boar ragù, aged pecorino, or grilled bistecca alla Fiorentina—for a truly regional experience.
