ABOUT THIS WINE

The 2020 Champagne Marguet “Oger” Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a single-village Champagne from Oger, one of the Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. This champagne is 100% chardonnay sourced from grower Laurent Vauversin. Farming follows Biodynamic principles with a non-interventionist approach in the vineyards and in the cellar.

The base wine was vinified and aged in oak, underwent malolactic fermentation, and was produced in a very small quantity—reported at 2,330 bottles. 0g/L dosage, unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur added.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

Champagne Marguet is a historic grower-producer based in Ambonnay, one of the Grand Cru villages of the Montagne de Reims. The family’s roots in Champagne date back to the late 19th century, and today the estate is led by Benoît Marguet, who took over in 2005 and has transformed the domaine with a deep commitment to ecological farming and expressive, terroir-driven wines.

The estate’s vineyards in Ambonnay and Bouzy are farmed organically and biodynamically, with Demeter certification. Benoît takes a holistic approach in the vineyard, incorporating biodynamic preparations, herbal treatments, and even draft horses to work the soils. In the cellar, the philosophy remains equally hands-off, with indigenous yeasts, fermentation in wood, minimal sulfur, and little to no dosage.

Alongside his estate-grown Champagnes, Benoît also produces a collection of single-village wines from organically farmed grapes sourced throughout Champagne, allowing him to explore the personalities of distinct Grand Cru terroirs. Across the range, Marguet’s wines are defined by thoughtful farming, minimal intervention, and a desire to let each vineyard and village speak for itself.
