2020 Chateau Le Bon Pasteur, Pomerol, France

The nose is seductive and expressive, offering notes of jammy black fruits, raspberry and violet, as well as licorice and fine woodiness.

The attack is silky, revealing a wine of great purity and playing on a register of red fruits and sweet spices. Voluminous and carried by fine and structured tannins, it shows freshness until the finish, which is long, noble and delicious.

ABOUT THIS WINE

Chateau Le Bon Pasteur is an unclassified growth in Pomerol.

The 2020 is a blend of 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc fermented in new oak barrels (Intégrale).

2020 is a sunny and early vintage for the Bordeaux vineyard, having given birth to magnificent red wines. It will be remembered as a hot and dry summer with very little rainfall until the harvest. Thanks to the very nice conditions in September, almost summer-like with cool nights and sunny days, the grapes obtained an excellent maturity.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCER

A very nice reference nestled in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Le Bon Pasteur was founded in the 1920s by the grandparents of the famous oenologist-consultant Michel Rolland. The latter took over in 1979, implementing numerous technical innovations that quickly contributed to its international reputation. Accompanied by his wife Dany, they have never ceased to magnify the greatness of the terroir of their Domaine, offering complex and richly elegant wines. Today, the team is led by Benoît Prévot and Michel Rolland remains the consultant.

The Château Le Bon Pasteur is based on a vineyard of 6.6 hectares of vines, planted on gravel-clay and gravel-sand soils. The grape varieties are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 80% of which are new.

The Etoile de Bon Pasteur is the Second wine produced on the property.

The Château Le Bon Pasteur produces wines that are almost exemplary in that they are so refined, velvety, and deep, developing sublime evolutionary aromas after a few years of aging.
