ABOUT THE WINE
Château Lécuyer is a small Pomerol estate with a parcel on the appellation’s plateau near Château Clinet, Clos l’Eglise and Château Rouget. Its Merlot-led blend also includes Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, giving the wine a clear connection to the grape varieties and compact vineyard holdings of this Right Bank property.
The 2022 shows abundant black fruit, spice and truffle, with firm tannins supporting its richness. Production and bottling are carried out by the Château Clinet team. Serve with roast beef, duck or a mushroom-rich braise; its youthful structure also lends itself to time in the cellar.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
The three-hectare property was previously called Château de Bourgueneuf. The Petit and Cambier family renamed it Lécuyer, meaning “the squire,” when they took over in 2004. One hectare lies on the Pomerol plateau, with the remaining two hectares elsewhere in the appellation.
Ronan Laborde, owner of Château Clinet, acquired Lécuyer in 2022. The estate now benefits from Clinet’s production experience while retaining its own vineyard identity. The importer describes the farming as sustainable in practice.
