ABOUT THIS WINE
The Orbello delle Tenute Sella is a wine conceived as a "family wine", obtained from a blend of Barbera, Croatina, Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes which arise from young estate vineyards located in the municipalities of Villa del Bosco, Busnengo and Lessona, in Upper Piedmont.
The harvest of the bunches takes place at the beginning of October. This is followed by destemming and fermentation in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for 10 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine rests for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
Bright ruby red to the eye, it expresses itself on the nose with spicy and red fruit notes that blend with a pleasantly mineral touch. The palate is fresh and crunchy, with a delicate tannicity that supports the sip, and then ends on a fruity and harmonious finish.
Particularly suitable in the company of a platter of cured meats or cheeses, it pairs well with red meat main courses.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Tenute Sella is located at the foot of the Alps of Biella, in Northern Piedmont. Purchased in 1671 by Comino Sella, for 350 years the family-owned property has been cultivated by generations of the Sella family. Here in Alto-Piemonte, they craft beautiful, ethereal expressions of Nebbiolo-based wines, which are exceptionally age-worthy.
Orbello is a small village very close to the vineyard where this wine is produced from. A traditional blend that Tenute Sella has been producing for more than 50 years; Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and a touch of Cabernet Franc. Aged for 1 year in barriques, and 6 months refinement in bottle. This wine has a really attractive nose of mixed red fruits, it's very bright and very elegant. The palate is soft and round, red fruits follow through with a touch of minerality. A wine of great finesse.
