The 2020 G.D. Vajra "Bricco delle Viole" Barolo presents an exhilarating nose with aromas of spiced cherries, damson, and warmed violets in blossom. Notes of leather, truffle, and forest floor add depth, continually evolving from the glass. On the palate, a panoply of cherry flavors—fresh, macerated, and preserved—unfolds, complemented by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish.

ABOUT THIS WINE
"Bricco delle Viole" is among the historical vineyards of Barolo, notable for being the highest and closest to the Alps, rising from 400 to 480 meters above sea level on the western ridge of the village. Its name, "Hill of Violets," originates from the early-blooming flowers, thanks to its perfect south exposure. The vineyard enjoys the earliest sunrise and the last sunset each day, contributing to the unique character of the wine.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
G.D. Vajra is a family-run winery nestled in Vergne, the highest village in the Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. The Vajra family has farmed Bricco delle Viole since the 1880s. At the young age of fifteen, Aldo Vajra embraced the dream to revive his family legacy, taking over the estate in 1968. High elevation vineyards are a unique factor to Vajra wines, allowing them to express finesse and remarkable complexity over simple power.
