2020 Stéphane Ogier Côtes-du-Rhône “Le Temps Est Venu”, Rhône Valley, France
Juniper, violet and pepper notes mingle out front before the core of kirsch and plum fruit arrives, turning this into a juicy ball of anise-tinged deliciousness, with an echo of garrigue through the finish.
ABOUT THIS WINE
The nose is fruity with aromas of ripe cherries and spices. This wine is medium-bodied with lively acidity and silky tannins. Blend: 60% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. It’s spicy and leathery up front, then opens to reveal notes of ripe cherries and garrigue. A backbone of cranberryish acidity lingers on the finish.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Stéphane Ogier represents the 7th generation of the family established in Ampuis, the cradle of the Côte-Rôtie. This talented young winemaker is in the process of propelling the family estate to the top of the Côte-Rôtie and more globally of the Northern Rhône. His objective is to reveal each of the terroirs in the same way as his Burgundian neighbours do, by producing parcels with a singular identity, reflecting their fabulous and noble origins. A winegrower to follow very closely, and one that we have the pleasure of helping you discover, so much so that his passion shines through with wines of mad elegance and a rare finesse.
