The 2020 Zisola Noto Rosso is a compelling expression of Sicily’s southeastern terroir, delivering a vibrant interplay of ripe fruit, herbal nuance, and mineral structure. Made primarily from Nero d’Avola, the wine opens with rich aromas of black cherry and plum layered with wild herbs, dried rose petals, and a touch of saline minerality. On the palate, it offers juicy blackberry and compote-like depth, balanced by subtle licorice and spice. The fruit was cultivated in organic-certified vineyards near Noto, where limestone soils and maritime influences lend freshness and definition. Founded in the late 1990s by Michele and Adriana Molè, Zisola is a historic estate in Noto, once known for citrus and olive groves, later planted with Nero d’Avola and Frappato. Rooted in regenerative and organic farming, they prioritize soil health, vineyard biodiversity, and sustainable practices across their 10-hectare holdings.
Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes expressing terroir authenticity, purity, and elegance—rejecting overpowering oak and over-ripeness in favor of harmony and drinkability.
