ABOUT THE WINE
The 2021 IX Estate is Colgin’s blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from its Pritchard Hill property. The hillside vineyard sits above Lake Hennessey, with reddish clay and volcanic rocks contributing to the estate’s distinctive growing conditions.
The vintage shows raspberry, plum and cocoa alongside sage, juniper, floral notes and a crushed-rock accent. A polished, velvety texture meets juicy fruit and substantial structure, giving the wine both immediate presence and the capacity to develop in bottle. This is the IX Estate red blend, as identified on the product’s bottle label.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Ann Colgin founded Colgin Cellars in 1992, with a focus on exceptional hillside vineyards in Napa Valley. The estate’s work is rooted in the idea that individual sites can produce wines of harmony, precision and grace.
IX Estate became an important part of that vineyard-led vision, with the wine first produced in 2002. Rather than treating Napa Valley as a single uniform landscape, Colgin emphasizes its properties’ different soils, exposures and elevations. The IX Estate blend brings several Bordeaux varieties together to express this particular Pritchard Hill site.
