ABOUT THIS WINE
For this orange wine, Glatzer takes organically farmed Traminer from her family’s vineyards in Carnuntum and allows a substantial portion of the fruit to remain in contact with its skins during fermentation. The skin contact gives the finished wine its deeper color and additional aromatic and structural character. Glatzer experimented with several lots rather than using a single fermentation approach: some fruit is handled as a conventional pressed white and some receives skin contact, with both stainless steel and used oak involved. This wine is unfined, unfiltered, and bottled with low sulfur.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Hanna Glatzer represents an exciting new generation of winemaking in Carnuntum, Austria. The daughter of respected winemaker Walter Glatzer, Hanna grew up surrounded by vineyards in Göttlesbrunn. However, she initially imagined a life outside of wine, studying language before changing to the study of viticulture and winemaking at Geisenheim University in Germany. After she returned home, Hanna began crafting wines under her own name, drawing on her family’s vineyards while developing a style distinctly her own.
Hanna takes a fresh, low-intervention approach in the cellar working only with organically farmed fruit. She favors vibrant fruit, bright acidity, and drinkability over extraction or heavy oak. She is experiementings with varieties including Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch, Welschriesling, Traminer, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These varietals produce wines that feel playful and contemporary while remaining firmly rooted in Carnuntum. Her wines offer a compelling bridge between her family’s established winemaking tradition and the energetic, natural-minded spirit of Austria’s next generation.
