ABOUT THE WINE
Taillepieds occupies a steep, rocky position high on the Volnay hillside, south of the village. The domaine’s parcel covers just over a hectare, on poor, pale soils that help distinguish this premier cru from neighboring sites. It is a Pinot Noir known within the estate for combining strength and finesse.
The 2021 has plum, spice and earthy aromas, with an ample, fleshy palate supported by powdery tannins and a mineral finish. Taillepieds’ firm identity and capacity to develop in bottle make it a compelling example of Volnay’s more structured side, while retaining the elegance central to the domaine’s style.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
The d’Angerville family has been associated with this Volnay estate since 1804. Guillaume d’Angerville represents the sixth generation, continuing a tradition of close attention to the domaine’s vineyards and the distinctions between its premier cru holdings.
The estate also played an early role in Burgundy’s move toward bottling at the property, rather than relying entirely on merchants, during the 1920s. Its vineyard work follows biodynamic principles, with an emphasis on healthy soils and wines whose character comes from place. Taillepieds is one of the enduring reference points in that vineyard-led range.
