2021 Moretta "Les Espias" Chenin Blanc, Curicó Valley, Chile
In the glass, expect a pale yellow color with golden glints. Aromatically it shows hazelnut, apricot, peach, and pear with a gentle buttery note; the palate is light, easy-drinking, and balanced by crisp acidity—very versatile at the table (think cheeses, seafood, sushi, poultry, and lightly sweet-savory dishes).

ABOUT THIS WINE
The 2021 Moretta “Les Espias” Chenin Blanc comes from Molina in Chile’s Curicó Valley and is 100% Chenin Blanc. The fruit is from ~34-year-old, massal-selection, ungrafted vines grown on deep, alluvial soils with plenty of rounded stones; the site is traditionally furrow-irrigated. Winemaking is low-intervention: the grapes were carefully sorted and pressed; the juice fermented with native yeasts and then rested on its lees (with periodic stirring). Aging was in a mix of small tanks/eggs; the vintage tech sheet reports ~8 months on lees before bottling in November 2021 (you’ll also see some listings round the alcohol to ~12%).
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
Moretta Wines is a small project led by winemakers and longtime friends María José Ortúzar and Natalia Poblete. Their focus is on limited-production, characterful wines that speak to their places in the Maule/Curicó area; both partners trained in Chile and abroad before launching Moretta.
