ABOUT THE WINE

The 2021 Antonio Castagnedi Amarone is a traditional, full-bodied expression of Valpolicella, made from Corvina and Corvinone (70%), Rondinella (20%), Croatina (5%) and Oseleta (5%). The hand-selected grapes are dried for approximately three months using the appassimento method, concentrating their flavor before fermentation. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged for 24 months in new 500-liter French oak casks.

Ripe red fruit leads into notes of licorice, black pepper and dark chocolate. Warm, generous and structured, it balances this wine's concentration with freshness and polished tannins. Serve with braised or roasted meats, game and aged cheeses.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Tenuta Sant’Antonio is a family winery in Veneto, northeastern Italy, founded in 1995 by four brothers: Armando, Tiziano, Paolo, and Massimo Castagnedi. The winery is in San Briccio, in the hills east of Verona, and makes wines from the Valpolicella and Soave areas.

The estate is best known for Amarone della Valpolicella, a rich red wine made with partially dried grapes. Its range also includes Valpolicella, Ripasso, and Soave. Standout labels include Campo dei Gigli, its flagship Amarone, and La Bandina, a single-vineyard Valpolicella. The family also makes wines under the SCAIA and TéLOS brands.
