ABOUT THE WINE
The 2021 “Chañares Estate” Malbec is a single-vineyard expression sourced from Viña Cobos' high-elevation site in Los Árboles, Tunuyán, nestled within the Uco Valley at nearly 4,000 feet above sea level. The vineyard’s stony, alluvial soils and extreme diurnal shifts contribute to the wine’s precision, intensity, and tension. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in a combination of French oak barrels (a portion new), the wine is dense yet detailed, offering aromas of blackberry, cassis, lavender, and crushed rock. On the palate, it balances richness with freshness, showing graphite-laced minerality, ripe dark fruit, and a fine-grained tannic structure. The wine speaks to both the power of Argentine Malbec and the finesse possible from carefully chosen mountain terroirs. Ideal pairings include dry-aged beef, lamb with rosemary, or grilled vegetables with chimichurri.
