2021 Weingut Keller "Kirchspiel" Riesling Kabinett, Rheinhessen, Germany

This is the first Keller Kirchspiel Kabinett since 2008 and comes exclusively from the same 1964 plantings that routinely go into the Grosses Gewächs. The nose delivers a full basket of herbs and flowers with a high-toned essence of tangy pear, saline with lime zest and sea breeze. The silken feel and discreet sweetness beautifully reinforce the succulence of fruit, while bright citrus and pronounced salinity trigger salivation. Refreshing floral and green herbal notes peek with hints of coriander seed and iris root.

ABOUT THIS WINE

Kabinett was terrific in 2021, maybe as good as it has been for many years, because of the late vintage, the good water supply of the Vines, the moderate sugar content, the cool nights, and the racy acidity, it was in one word: perfect!

You can taste pure energy and joie de vivre in these wines, paired with race, extract and great elegance that guarantee them a particularly long life. For Juliet
and for me, and of course for Felix too, the cabinets are the diamonds of the Germans
wine culture. Wines that can mature in the bottle for decades, always
get even better.
