ABOUT THE WINE

Grown on the Siebert Ranch, Ancient Oak’s estate vineyard nestled in the heart of the Russian River Valley, this Chardonnay benefits from the region’s hallmark fog-cooled mornings and diurnal shifts that preserve freshness and extend hang time. The 2022 vintage was marked by a mild growing season, which allowed for slow, even ripening and concentrated flavor development.

The fruit was hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, and fermented with native yeasts, then aged in a mix of neutral and lightly toasted French oak barrels. Partial malolactic fermentation was employed to soften acidity without sacrificing vibrancy. The result is a layered and textural Chardonnay—creamy yet restrained, with an emphasis on site expression rather than overt oak or butter. It pairs beautifully with dishes like roast chicken with tarragon, grilled halibut, or a soft-ripened cheese like Brie de Meaux.
