ABOUT THE WINE

Athénaïs de Béru’s Côtes d’Auxerre Rouge is a Pinot Noir from the Yonne, in northern Burgundy near Chablis. It belongs to her purchased-grape range, which explores the region beyond the family’s own Chablis vineyards. It should be distinguished from the Céleste blend and the separately named amphora bottling.

A tasting of the 2022 describes ripe fruit, aromatic depth, a juicy palate and satisfying length. The wine offers a broader, more filled expression than its northern origins might suggest, while remaining tied to the local Pinot Noir tradition. We suggest roast poultry, pork or a savory mushroom dish as companions at the table.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Athénaïs de Béru’s work extends beyond Château de Béru through a small négociant range made with fruit from neighboring Yonne vineyards. Partnerships with growers working organically or biodynamically allow her to explore sites outside the family’s Chablis holdings.

Her philosophy favors an authentic expression of place and creative freedom in the cellar. Native fermentation and limited intervention connect the purchased-grape wines with the same attention to living soils and vineyard character that guides the domaine.
