ABOUT THE WINE
The “Ultreia de Valtuille” is a pure expression of Mencía from old vines rooted in the clay-limestone soils of Valtuille de Abajo, in Bierzo’s western reaches. Fermented with native yeasts, largely whole cluster, and aged in used French oak barrels, this wine reflects Raúl Pérez’s minimal-interventionist approach and reverence for terroir. The nose is lifted and floral, evoking mountain herbs and graphite, while the palate is layered with tart red fruit, wild berries, and an umami-laced mineral core. Taut yet elegant, it rewards both immediate enjoyment and cellaring. Ideal with grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, or aged Manchego.
