The 2022 Comte de la Chevalière Val de Loire Gamay hails from the Loire Valley in France and is produced by Comte de la Chevalière, a prominent cooperative founded in 1963 that represents nearly 90 growers and manages around 250 ha of vines on the stony slopes overlooking the Loire River. It is an expressive red that offers a refreshing Loire‑style alternative to more ubiquitous reds. The red‑berry aromatics, softness on the palate, and approachable structure make it ideal for lighter fare—think charcuterie, fresh cheeses, grilled vegetables, or light poultry—and especially welcome during warmer months or as an everyday picnic wine.

Comte de la Chevalière is one of Sancerre’s leading producers, bottling nearly 2 million bottles annually, and showcasing the full range of terroirs across multiple communes facing the Loire River. Their cellar is modern and well‑equipped, enabling them to highlight the diversity and aromatic finesse of both white and red Loire varietals with consistency and value. Although best known for their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir Sancerre, the co‑op also bottles red Gamay under the Val de Loire IGP designation.
