Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is one of the most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin and one of Domaine Armand Rousseau’s most celebrated wines. The domaine owns approximately 1.4 hectares within the historic Clos de Bèze, planted to Pinot Noir on the limestone- and marl-rich soils characteristic of this exceptional site.
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation. Rousseau traditionally destems the majority of the fruit, with the proportion of whole clusters varying according to the vintage. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in open stainless-steel vats, followed by a gentle extraction designed to preserve the perfume, finesse and transparency of the vineyard. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels, with a significant proportion of new oak, before bottling.
The 2022 Clos de Bèze combines the natural generosity of the vintage with remarkable precision and freshness. Aromatically expressive, it shows layers of red and dark cherry, raspberry, violet, rose petal, exotic spice and subtle earth. The palate is powerful yet extraordinarily refined, with silky tannins, mineral tension and a very long, complex finish. Clos de Bèze is often considered the more perfumed and seductive counterpart to Rousseau’s Chambertin, while possessing equally profound aging potential.

Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of the most revered estates in Burgundy and a benchmark producer of Gevrey-Chambertin.
