2022 Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru “Les Chaffots”, Burgundy, France
The wine presents a deep ruby red color, indicative of its age and concentration. On the nose, it offers aromas of red fruits such as black plum and blackberry, complemented by subtle earthy and smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a rich texture. It exhibits a harmonious balance between fruit sweetness and acidity, with powdery tannins providing structure. The finish is persistent, reflecting the wine's depth and potential for aging.

ABOUT THIS WINE
Surface area: 45 ares, from vines planted in 1968.
Located just above the Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, at 330 metres altitude, on a hillside with a east-southeast incline. The vineyards receive an exceptional amount of sunlight as well as freshness due to the altitude and the nearby valley. The wine is among the strongest-coloured of the domaine’s wines and nicely balanced with a pure, taut character and mature tannins. Excellent cellar-ageing potential.
ABOUT THIS PRODUCER
The vineyard is mainly composed of old vines planted through massale selections, with the oldest dating back to 1936. Since the 1990s, they have embraced soil cultivation practices such as plowing and hoeing, excluding the use of herbicides and insecticides.
At the estate, a conscientious approach to both the vines and the surrounding environment, as well as the preservation of biodiversity, is carefully considered. This becomes even more crucial considering the impact on the vineyard in the face of climate change.
Since 2006, the estate has been following organic practices, and in 2016, Laurent initiated the “AB” (Agriculture Biologique) certification process, which was officially certified in 2019.
