Sourced from Jean Grivot’s parcel near the top of Clos de Vougeot, where the soils are thinner and more limestone-rich, this 2022 Grand Cru reflects both pedigree and precision. The vintage offered optimal ripeness and purity, allowing the domaine’s organic farming and minimalist cellar approach to shine. Fermented with partial whole clusters and aged in French oak (30–40% new), the wine reveals a layered interplay of dark fruit, earth, and spice, framed by a firm but polished structure. Compared to more robust expressions from lower in the clos, Grivot’s bottling is defined by its verticality, freshness, and aging potential. Domaine Jean Grivot is one of Vosne-Romanée’s most respected family estates, now helmed by the fifth generation, Mathilde Grivot. The domaine began its rise to prominence under Jean Grivot in the mid-20th century and solidified its reputation through decades of precise, terroir-driven winemaking. Farming is organic, and intervention is minimal both in the vineyard and the cellar. With holdings in some of the Côte de Nuits’ most prized vineyards—including Richebourg, Échezeaux, and Clos de Vougeot—Grivot’s wines are known for their structure, longevity, and intensity without excess.
