ABOUT THE WINE

Sibling Rivalry is Kivelstadt’s Pinot Noir from its Sonoma Valley vineyard northwest of Glen Ellen. The site’s cobbly clay-loam soils and organically farmed vines form the basis of a wine intended to express this particular part of Sonoma rather than a broad regional blend.

Partial whole-cluster fermentation with native yeast and maturation in French oak are central to the cuvée’s production. The producer profile describes black raspberry, cherry-cola, spice and dried flowers, with a medium-bodied, silky palate and bright acidity. This listing is the 2022 vintage, a versatile red for the table with fruit and texture held in balance.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Jordan Kivelstadt founded Kivelstadt Cellars in 2007, beginning with a small production of Syrah from his family’s Bennett Valley estate. His experience working abroad helped shape an interest in wines of character and a willingness to explore different California grapes and sites.

The winery works with its own vineyard and organic grower partners, combining responsible farming with native fermentation and restrained cellar intervention. Family ties and an independent spirit run through the range, while Sibling Rivalry gives Pinot Noir a place alongside the estate’s Syrah and other bottlings.
