2022 Lemelson Vineyards Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Green apple, mandarin and lemon curd mingle with caramel, vanilla and marzipan. Barrel fermentation and full malolactic fermentation build a rich texture, while lively acidity keeps the Willamette Valley Chardonnay balanced.
ABOUT THE WINE
The 2022 Lemelson Chardonnay combines fruit from two organic estate vineyards in different Willamette Valley AVAs: 70% Johnson Vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton and 30% Chestnut Hill Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. Whole clusters were pressed and the wine fermented in barrel, with 100% malolactic fermentation, before 14 months in French oak, 20% new. Green apple, caramel, lemon curd and vanilla are joined by mandarin orange and marzipan. The texture is surprisingly rich while retaining excellent acidity, making it a versatile partner for food.
Grape: Chardonnay Alcohol: 13.5% ABV Farming: Certified organic by Oregon Tilth
